WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ‘PASS THROUGH’ AND ‘RESERVOIR’ ASD E-BRAKE SYSTEMS?
ASD’s ‘Reservoir’ E-brake incorporates its own brake reservoir working independently from the vehicle’s brake system. ASD’s ‘Pass Through’ E-brake works in-line with the existing vehicle’s brake system.
WHAT E-BRAKE SYSTEM SHOULD I CHOOSE (PASS THROUGH OR RESERVOIR)?
Vehicle applications that have one brake caliper on each wheel will use the ‘Pass Through’ system. However, if you are running two brake calipers on each wheel you will need the ‘Reservoir’ ASD e-Brake.
DO I NEED THE -3AN ADAPTER?
ASD offers master cylinder adapters to fit -3AN* braided lines for its E-Brake products. Two adapters are used for the inlet and outlet ports on ‘Pass Through’ master cylinders and one adapter is used for ‘Reservoir’ master cylinders. DO I NEED THE HARD LINE FITTING ADAPTER?
The Hard Line Fitting Adapter converts the 7/16-24 thread in the “Pass Through” master cylinder inlet port to a very common 3/8-24 thread as used with 3/16” hard line brake nuts. Used only with “Pass Through” master cylinders. DOES THE ASD HYDRAULIC E-BRAKE WORK WITH DRUM BRAKES?
We do not recommend use with drum brakes.
IS THERE A BRAKE PAD YOU RECOMMEND USING IF YOU’RE RUNNING A WILWOOD DUAL CALIPER SET-UP?
We recommend using a Wilwood “B” compound pad for the best locking capabilities with your e-brake.
IS THERE A BRAKE PAD YOU RECOMMEND USING IF YOU’RE RUNNING AN OEM CALIPER SET-UP?
Any non-race type compound will work well, which means any brake pad that is not recommended for high temperature use (normally rear brake rotors on drift cars do not see temperatures high enough for race compounds to be effective). When available for your application, the Hawk DTC60 compound is a great choice (but not required).
SHOULD I USE ANY PARTICULAR TYPE OF BRAKE FLUID?
You can keep using whichever brake fluid you currently use in your car. We recommend a minimum of DOT3 and prefer DOT4 for all performance cars.
CAN I PURCHASE JUST THE HANDLE?
Our ASD-designed handle is only sold as part of the ASD Hydraulic e-brake. However, ASD E-brake handles damaged in racing accidents can be replaced for prior customers upon proof of original purchase and by shipping the customer’s original handle to ASD for disposal.
