Cole Richards Reclaims Glory in New Jersey

At the Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ, Cole Richards displayed masterful control in Round 2 of the 2025 PROSPEC Championship. Piloting his Koruworks/Richards Racing Toyota GR86, Richards bested Nate Chen in a tight Final. Judges awarded him the win based on a dominant lead run, reclaiming the same venue where he first tasted victory during his 2023 rookie campaign—a triumphant return to form.

This victory vaulted him from 12th to 2nd in the championship standings, now trailing leader Dmitriy Brutskiy by just ten points. Brutskiy, who finished third, kept his consistent season alive and retained the championship lead.

Richards summed it up: a blend of redemption and resurgence. After a challenging 2024, this win is more than just a podium—it's a statement. It solidified his footsteps in the title chase and marked him as a true contender.

 What Made the Difference

  • Precision Lead Runs: Richards took full command of the lead position in the Final, outscoring Chen and winning on style and execution

  • Proven Haven: Englishtown isn’t uncharted territory—Richards’ prior win here in 2023 gives him a psychological edge .

  • Momentum Swing: Beyond the 100 championship points, this win injected confidence and put the pressures squarely on his rivals.

Next up is the World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, IL, hosting Round 3 of PROSPEC alongside the PRO Championship from July 17–19

What to Watch:

  1. Strategic Adjustments: Can Richards replicate his NJ lead-run dominance on the faster Missouri oval?

  2. Brutskiy’s Consistency: Will the championship leader take fewer risks or aim for another podium to widen the gap?

  3. Chen’s Surge: Energized by his first podium, expect Chen to challenge more aggressively—he's climbing fast.

  4. Emerging Threats: Jerry Johnson, fresh off seeding bracket success in NJ, could strike again.

Cole Richards’s New Jersey win marks a turning point—not just a return to the podium, but a reclaiming of momentum. He's now squarely in the fight—just 10 points behind Brutskiy—with a car that has proven capable of excellence. If he carries that precision and confidence to St. Louis, we might witness the start of a thrilling title chase. With three more rounds ahead, every drift, every angle, and every run will count.
